Elif Gokyildiz joined Accenture in 2000 and is based in Paris as Commercial Director, Groupe Credit Agricole and Kering. Here, she answers a few questions about her journey.
How did you get started in finance?
“I am a very analytical and pragmatic person, making decisions based on facts. Covering many fields, finance allows extremely varied profiles to find a job. So, choosing Finance as a specialization was natural for me.”
Could you share an accomplishment that has made you particularly proud?
“I can cite two major accomplishments. First, being able to continue my career in France. Things are changing but 20 years ago for a non-native French speaker, who didn’t graduate from one of the French business schools, there weren’t many opportunities.”
“Second, being part of the Accenture Finance transformation journey. I am so impressed by today’s digital tools and the expanded Finance teams all over the world. That demonstrates the vision of Accenture Finance leaders, and I am proud to be part of the team.”
What has been your biggest professional transition to date?
“Being part of the Commercial Director team. That role requires you not only to be a master in in finance but also requires contractual, legal, communication and negotiating skills. I am still learning and enjoying each day.”
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received? What advice do you have for others?
“Be curious and ambitious, and do not hesitate to ask questions. We have so many opportunities to learn and grow. Plan 30 minutes of self–awareness reading weekly.”
