Responsible Company

We are dedicated to leading by example and making a difference through climate action, caring for our people, accelerating equality for all and conducting our business with the utmost integrity.

We began to measure and disclose our environmental impact in 2007, and we continue to hold ourselves accountable to clear, measurable goals that are aligned with climate science.

We are continuing to work toward our goal of net-zero emissions by 2025 by first focusing on reductions across our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and then removing any remaining emissions through nature-based carbon removal projects. We are also establishing new goals to align with the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) criteria, guidance and recommendations for setting science-based net-zero targets.

We remain focused on our core principles of carbon reduction, nature-based carbon removal, and collaborating with our clients, partners and suppliers.

Our environmental goals span three areas: 

  • Climate change mitigation: reduction and removal
  • Climate change adaptation: planning for water risk
  • Moving toward zero waste: e-waste, furniture and single-use plastics

Accenture is one of the founding members of the Alliance for Clean Air, which was launched by the World Economic Forum and the Clean Air Fund at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).

Air pollutants and greenhouse gases (GHG) often come from the same sources, including the combustion of fuels. There is synergy between the actions needed to reduce GHG and air pollutant emissions.

Our most significant direct impact to air pollution relates to our company cars. These impacts are detailed in the following table. Historical and current environmental-related statements may be based on standards for measuring progress that are still developing, and assumptions are subject to change in the future.

Responsible Citizen

Creating value in communities around the world—from developing skills to supporting refugees—is core to our belief in shared success. We collaborate with our clients, ecosystem and nonprofit partners and others to create positive, lasting change and help build stronger, more vibrant communities.

Our Skills to Succeed initiative is about supporting and empowering people as they prepare for and navigate their career journeys.

In fiscal 2023, programs supported by Skills to Succeed reported that approximately 4.3 million people worldwide were equipped with skills toward employment or entrepreneurship.

We are also using technology to broaden our reach and impact. Our Skills to Succeed Academy is a free, immersive online learning program to help young people and others build skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace.

Accenture Development Partnerships (ADP) helps our clients—including leading NGOs, private foundations, public donor agencies and the private sector—address society's most critical challenges.

For 20 years, ADP has led diverse work fostering partnerships, collective impact and social equity to progress the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals improving lives around the world.

Key focus areas include agriculture; climate and environment; energy; global health and nutrition; humanitarian and refugees; human rights; inclusive business; inclusive finance, and livelihoods and education.  In fiscal 2023, ADP led more than 370 engagements in approximately 40 countries.

Championing the SDGs

To drive change for our clients, and for our business, we work across a spectrum of environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities—and help all our stakeholders do the same—contributing to the creation of a more sustainable world for all.

In addition, Accenture has been a United Nations (UN) Global Compact (UNGC) signatory since 2008, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) continue to provide us with a powerful framework for our actions, as well as those we take with our ecosystem partners, clients, suppliers and others in our sphere of influence. We know that our efforts to advance our most relevant SDGs can deliver benefits for multiple related SDGs, enabling us to amplify outcomes for our clients, people, shareholders, partners and communities.
