CASE STUDY COSTA CROCIERE
A commitment to knowing guests across every touchpoint doubled ecommerce conversion and set a new standard for personalized travel

Costa Crociere has been taking guests to sea for more than 75 years, operating nine ships across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Americas. To grow in a competitive market, the company chose to pursue an opportunity most competitors had not fully seized: knowing each guest well enough to deliver an experience no one else could replicate.
Guests measure travel brands against the best digital experiences they use every day. A Costa cruise is not a single experience but a collection of moments, designed for guests of different nationalities, ages and interests. Delivering those moments well required recognizing each individual across every interaction.
Costa made a deliberate move from fragmented, channel-led engagement to a continuous relationship model built around each guest. That meant aligning data, journeys and operations around a single, unified view of the guest, supported by the organizational change required to make it real.
Working with Accenture across strategy, data, technology and operations, Costa doubled its ecommerce conversion rate on personalized journeys.

27M

Personalization in Costa Crociere’s system was constrained by fragmented identities, leaving guest profiles incomplete or disconnected across channels and preventing personalization from scaling.
A cruise is built from moments. Our ambition was to make those moments feel connected, personal, and recognizable from beginning to end.

The numbers reflect the shift:
Each touchpoint builds on the last. The platform connects decisions across the full lifecycle and adapts in real time to what each guest needs next. That architecture is now extending onboard and into conversational AI.
For travel companies facing the same structural pressures, this is the shift: when understanding the guest is persistent, it becomes the foundation on which the whole business competes.
For us, personalization is no longer a campaign tactic. It is how we build a continuous relationship with each guest, from inspiration to loyalty.
